The Great Flu Epidemic of 2000 Whatever

The Great Flu Epidemic of 2000 Whatever

Scene one. I'm sitting outside a large house on a bench. I am with a doctor who lives in the house and I work for. A woman comes over who is traveling with a large family. There may be eight people. She wants the flu vaccine for family but does not want them to be examined. The reason for this is that if someone has the flu they may need to be quarantined or worse. She's particularly concerned about an 80-year-old granddad. The doctor says of course that's what they want but he he is going to examine them all anyway.

It is my job to prepare the serum. There are doses that are in tan old fashion little black doctors bag. I am fishing around in there to put them together, there is something wrong. They're dirty. Somethings may be missing. We decide to go inside to prepare the doses.

Scene two
. We are climbing up the outside portion of the house. It's like a tower or the surround for a chimney. We're climbing hand over hand. We're having casual conversation while we're doing the climb. It's at that point where one of the characters in the ream, it may even be me, declares this is the great flu epidemic of 2000 whatever, because I can't remember the exact date.

Scene three. A conversation starts between a woman and the doctor. They knew each other when they were young. [I don't remember if the conversation started while we were climbing or started once we got to the top]. What becomes apparent is that the woman was in love with the doctor but the doctor was not particularly in love with the woman. He is now happily married as an old man with a family. But she still has this heartache. So he writes her a song. And after he writes it he starts performing it. He is playing a guitar and singing it like he's a cowboy out on the range. It's a weird love song and he laments that he didn't really love her but even if he didn't she was still beautiful etc. Some crazy dream logic like that [DL].

So we are's sitting around like we are out on the range in a western movie. And now there is a younger man who is singing the same song with the same weird perspective. And we are just listening to it. I begin to wake up.

Notes: I woke up earlier after three or four hours sleep at about 7 o'clock. I was in the middle of a very elaborate dream but I got out of bed immediately and even though I could remember while I got up it rapidly faded. I was trying to fool with the application Google Docs and it was a little bit complex my attention was on that and I just almost literally saw the dream fade. Fortunately this time I had the discipline to stay in bed with my eyes closed to review the dream before I got up.
