Emotions vs. Intellect
[This is a series of dreams with the same theme that I go in and out of]
The dream is based on a series of arguments or intellectual points. Is not particularly action oriented. Should someone follow their emotions or should they follow their intellect. Science was used as a judge to help decide the argument. But it was potentially misused.
The emotional perspective: Possibly conservative. You must honor your beliefs and emotions Above all else. Intellectual arguments are just rationalizations. It is particularly important if you have a primary purpose in life that you are trying to achieve. You need to cling to and be completely dedicated to your passion. Do not let other people's intellectual arguments interfere with your thinking or purpose.
The intellectual perspective: Possibly left-wing political. Your approach must be logical and justifiable. Logic dictates how things should be. Use care to submit every belief and approach to science and logic and toss them out if they don't meet the criteria.
It would seem on the surface that the logical approach is best. But it's potentially misleading. You can scientifically study the power of belief. I humans, it is immensely powerful. The person who has a belief emotionally and in their heart is less likely to be shaken in their beliefs than someone who has arrived at their beliefs logically. People claiming to be rational too often misuse statistics to promote a particular point. There is no overriding clarity to our understanding of the universe coming from the scientific method. It is too limited in its approach.
At some point in this dream I was going back into the dream using a sword to fight for the side I wanted to win. Like a samurai sword to argue my point.
Notes:
Before going to bed I read a series of articles on an alternative news site. The author is a PhD in biology. He argued about the limitations of the scientific approach. He semed to have sketchy logic and be basically talking about the science of the 19th century. He talked about Newton and how ridig his understanding was in light of quantum theory. It is as if quantum theory is not science. I think he just a quack but I'm going to go back and look. I have long appreciated the value and power of faith. At the same time being highly wary of the power of Dogma. This says is all, “my karma ran over my dogma.”
