Being Chsed vy a Monster

I am running with a group of people in the dark. It may be just off-campus. We are basically jogging, and I’m even narrating as we pass some non-milestones. Periodically, we realize we are being chased by some evil people possibly with a machine gun. When we see them, they’re up at the top of a steep hill. Behind the evil people there darkly Clyde in a robe or a coat is a gigantic monster looming behind them. Our running continues in little segments. While running, we don’t seem to be particularly afraid. But then we glance uphill. There are evil people, possibly just one with a giant monster behind them. At one point there is a group of people that are also being chased rolling down the hill. They are some sort of official. like a fireman or policeman. They also have on large heavy jackets, and they are rolling down the hill like kids might. They’re obviously afraid of being chased as well. There seems to be an issue with the way they are approaching things might not be very wise. With each episode of staring up the hill when we start running again, I break off from the crowd, sneak up between buildings and crouch in fear, hoping that they will not notice me individually and come and get me. This happens several times. When I’m all awake, I’m somewhat fearful, but more interested in the fact of the dream, and that it is now likely time to do a wake-back-to-sleep procedure with new techniques that I’ve been working on or reading about.

This is a rich, layered dream — one that combines movement, pursuit, and awakening awareness. Let’s explore its possible meanings through several lenses:

🏃‍♂️ The Running and Group Dynamics

Running with a group “just off campus” suggests you are on the edge of a learning or transitional phase — symbolically “near” a place of education or growth but not inside it. You are participating but also observing (“I’m even narrating”), which points to a lucid, meta-awareness: you’re both actor and commentator in your life and dreams.

The group represents shared purpose or collective striving — people on a similar journey. Yet your recurring separation from them (breaking off, hiding between buildings) shows an instinct toward introspection and self-protection. You are part of something, but you need solitude to feel safe and process the experience.

😈 The Pursuers and the Giant Monster

The “evil people” and the “gigantic monster behind them” can symbolize a layered fear structure. The armed figures represent immediate worldly threats — anxiety about judgment, failure, or being targeted by others.
The monster behind them is primal fear — vast, ancient, archetypal. Its hidden presence behind human aggressors suggests that what seems threatening in waking life (competitors, critics, authority, instability) might actually be animated by deeper internal forces — maybe your own shadow material or repressed energy.

The robe or coat covering the monster implies it’s partially veiled — known but not yet integrated. This fits with your reflective tone: you can see your shadow but haven’t fully befriended it yet.

🚒 The Officials Rolling Downhill

The firemen or policemen rolling downhill “like kids” show the absurdity or ineffectiveness of conventional authority or control mechanisms within the dream. They symbolize parts of your psyche (logic, order, responsibility) that are behaving irrationally when confronted with the same fears. You notice their approach “might not be very wise” — a subtle acknowledgment that rational or external systems may not help you confront what’s pursuing you.
It’s an invitation to explore inner authority — courage, intuition, spiritual steadiness — rather than relying on conventional defenses.

🕳️ Crouching Between Buildings

Crouching between buildings is symbolic of thresholds — hiding in liminal spaces between structures of meaning. You are seeking cover between systems, perhaps between old and new ways of understanding yourself.
It’s also a moment of active choice: you remove yourself from the crowd and confront fear indirectly — not by fighting or running fast, but by pausing and observing. This could reflect your real-world movement toward lucid awareness and conscious control within dreams and waking anxieties.

🌄 Lucidity and the Wake-Back-to-Sleep Moment

The final awareness — realizing it’s time to begin a lucid-dreaming technique — is profound. It’s your meta-self waking up inside the symbolic landscape. The fear transitions into curiosity. That shift — from being chased to deciding to explore — represents mastery over the unconscious narrative.

Your dream consciousness recognizes:

“Ah, this is the borderland between fear and creation.”

That’s the essence of lucid growth: you see the monster not as a threat but as an opportunity to experiment with awareness.

🌌 Integration Message

This dream suggests you are:

  • Transitioning from instinctive fear to conscious exploration.

  • Learning to separate from the “herd mind” to engage your own inner landscape.

  • Ready to face the shadow — not to destroy it, but to understand its purpose.

  • Expanding your ability to wake up inside fear and transform it into curiosity.

🕯️ Practical Reflection

Next time you sense pursuit in a dream:

  1. Pause instead of hiding.

  2. Face the direction of the monster and ask, “What do you want me to see?”

  3. Remember that the dream is showing your own unclaimed power wearing a terrifying mask.

The Diner

I am at a facility with a group of people I am working with. We may be on a break or at lunch time. I go to  the water fountain and realize there are several people in the vicinity that are all waiting. There is a father with two adult daughters. He is treating them kindly, but like toddlers with micro grooming and other small interactions you would not have with an adult.

I am now at the counter about to order. I notice a hose that has air going through it and I try to adjust it. It makes it worse so I return it to the original set up. [when I wake I realize this is very similar to my CPAP hose]. When it is time to order I say eggs, then say just pretend I coming to your house for breakfast and serve me what you would at home.

I am now looking for a seat and there is none immediately available. I look at a long 3 sided table set up that has many people there. They all get up at the same time. It now looks like a huge sterile setup that would levee me isolated if I sat there by myself.

I am now sitting next to a very young chatty highly active girl/woman. We are having fun and at some point I kiss her bottom lip. I then think, I'm married and kissing a young woman in work public.

Note: I have had several dreams recently when I can briefly feel a physical sensation in the dream. It is an exciting prospect for future lucid dreaming.

This dream weaves together several themes — authority and control, emotional boundaries, subtle awakening cues, and lucid-body awareness. Let’s explore it layer by layer:

🌊 Setting: The Facility

A “facility” often symbolizes a structured, institutional aspect of the self — the organized mind at work. Being there “with a group of people you work with” suggests a shared purpose or collective mindset — the part of you cooperating with others (or your own inner parts) toward some task or goal.
Being “on a break” implies a pause in activity — a liminal space between structure and freedom — which is often when lucid-dreaming awareness begins to arise. The dream begins precisely in that threshold.

💧 The Water Fountain & the Over-Attentive Father

Water represents emotion, life flow, and spiritual refreshment. The fountain is communal — a shared emotional source.
The father treating his adult daughters like toddlers reflects a theme of over-control or infantilization — perhaps an inner voice or authority that tries to manage aspects of yourself that are perfectly capable of autonomy.
It could point to subtle tension between protection and permission: are there places in waking life where your nurturing impulse (toward others, dogs, clients, or even yourself) crosses into over-management?

🌬️ The Air Hose (CPAP Parallel)

This is an elegant moment of lucid crossover — the dream mind referencing a real-world sensory input (airflow from your CPAP).
Your act of “adjusting” and then “returning it to its original setup” mirrors the lucidity principle of not forcing control but observing and restoring balance.
It’s also symbolic: air equals breath equals life force. You experimented with controlling that life flow — realized interference made things worse — and chose alignment over manipulation. That’s spiritual maturity in action.

🍳 Ordering Breakfast

Breakfast is the first nourishment of the day — new beginnings, fresh awareness.
Your line, “Just pretend I’m coming to your house and serve me what you would at home,” shows openness and trust. You’re asking the dream (or life itself) to give you an authentic, home-cooked experience — not a contrived one. It’s a sign of deepening integration: rather than “ordering” reality, you’re allowing it to reveal its natural flavor.

🪑 The Empty Seat and Sterile Table

Looking for a place and finding a sterile, isolating setup after others leave points to a fear of isolation amid order — the cost of hyper-structure.
It’s as if when you follow all the “right” procedures, things become lifeless. This echoes the theme of the father figure and the facility — over-management draining vitality.
It’s a gentle warning: don’t let your systems (work, routines, or even dream practices) become so clean they exclude spontaneity.

💋 The Young Woman and the Kiss

Here comes vitality — playful, spontaneous, alive. The “very young, chatty” woman may represent your inner anima (the youthful, instinctual feminine energy) inviting connection.
The kiss on the bottom lip, followed by the realization “I’m married,” introduces awareness of boundaries and conscience — but also lucid tension: passion meets principle.
This isn’t about literal infidelity — it’s about integrating the lively, creative, sensual side of yourself without violating your grounded commitments or values.

Emerging Sensation and Lucid Progress

Feeling physical sensations in the dream marks a threshold between lucid awareness and somatic integration — your mind and dream-body beginning to sync.
It’s a strong sign your practice is progressing: the nervous system is learning to translate dream sensations into real-time awareness without waking you. The excitement you felt is the right response — but maintaining calm curiosity next time can help you stabilize lucidity longer.

🔮 Core Message

This dream seems to say:

“Balance control with vitality. Allow life’s natural flow — in breath, emotion, and desire — without over-managing it. Integrate the playful, sensual, and spontaneous aspects of yourself within the structures you’ve built.”
